چکیده

Background: Noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) has long been known by the people of Indonesia, especially Java, Sumatra, and Borneo. is also widely used as traditional medicine in almost all islands Indonesia. to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant aureus). The noni due phytochemical compounds found fruit, such iridoids, flavonoids, fatty acids, lignans, anthraquinone vitamins, trace elements. Objective: This study aimed determine methanol extract Methods: research was an experiment using a well-diffusion method aureus) vitro. Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) values were determined diffusion method. MBC suspension streaking Muller Hinton broth on mac Conkey agar plate. Five concentrations for method, obtained from serial dilution distilled water. 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, respectively. positive control this erythromycin 15 µg, vancomycin 30 µg. Results: 6,25% 3,13% Conclusion: shows higher MRSA. average diameter inhibition zone each specific case 0 – 26.64 mm 24.63 Therefore, further needed developing oral or topical antibiotic.

Staphylococcus aureus is responsible for a broad range of clinical infections, most notable of which are cases of bacteremia and endocarditis. Staphylococcus aureus is an important cause of serious infections in both hospitals and the community. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) were first reported in 1961 and the first hospital outbreak of MRSA was reported in 1963. When MRSA ...

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Staphylococcus aureus is an opportunistic pathogen often carried asymptomatically on the human body. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) includes those strains that have acquired a gene giving them resistance to methicillin and essentially all other beta-lactam antibiotics. MRSA was first reported in 1961, soon after methicillin was introduced into human medicine to treat penicillinresistant...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

MRSA was isolated from pus, urine, breast discharge, blood culture, cerebrospinal fluid, and ascetic fluid [2]. The extensive use of antibiotics over the last 50 years has led to the emergence of bacterial resistance and to the dissemination of resistance genes among pathogenic organisms [3]. In addition, since few cells in a population might actually express resistance, these heterogeneous str...

Antibacterial Activity of Rhus javanica against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

In the present study, the leaves of Rhus javanica (R. javanica) were extracted with ethanol, and we investigated the antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract of R. javanica against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Control groups were treated with media containing 0.1% DMSO. The ethanol extract of R. javanica inhibited the growth of MRSA at concentrations ranging from 0.0...
